30% ROI Anyone? (10) – Finale & How to Participate?

Continuing from the last post, my approach has always been to use my own money to test something first, go through a complete cycle, experience the ups and downs, and get initial results before making any further decisions. After this round, here’s my take on this strategy:

  • The potential profit margin is particularly high. Compared to the potential returns, the investment isn’t large. With a few million, you can leverage a case worth around 100 million, offering good value for money.
  • Compared to the car accident cases in my legal lending series, this carries higher risks because car accident cases are covered by car insurance and third-party ATE insurance, while patent litigation doesn’t have insurance. This means it’s a higher risk, higher reward game.
  • The small amounts and multiple out-of-court settlements align with my understanding of legal funds, spreading risk. I agree with this approach, as long as the execution results match their past performance claims.
  • In terms of liquidity, they mentioned a 20-30return within 12 months through small settlements, which I find acceptable.
  • For trials, they said it could take a few months to get the money if quick, or around two years considering trial preparations, court sessions, and potential appeals. Given the potential profit margin, I also find this acceptable.

So, it depends on what I prioritize.

I had several more discussions with them. They themselves prefer to have both, so they mentioned they had their own money equally split between the diversified funds of the first 12 months and the trial cases.

For me, sticking to my usual rule, if I decide to increase my investment, it will be gradual, and in amount that if lost, won’t affect my quality of life. If the experience and results are continuing to be good, I’ll continue to increase my investment; if they don’t meet expectations, I’ll make adjustments accordingly. I will continuously observe and share updates.
