Private Lending (1) – How Did I Start?

Some of you might know that Legal Lending was my main passive income stream, which I shared previously. This series, however, is about the first successful passive income stream I found, even before Legal Lending. I’m still doing this, however, much less than before as the market has changed dramatically since then – this will be discussed during the final episode of this series.

This goes back many years. At that time, I was still consulting, either flying to Europe or flying to the United States. It was a lot of fun, including hopping over to neighboring counties for weekend trips. Then, I got so sick of flying and waiting forever at different airports, so I quit, lol

I changed jobs, with the only requirement being that I could walk to work in the morning, without having to fly!

A bunch of headhunters came knocking, and I eventually chose a bank close to home, beginning the nine-to-five life. I was amazed on my first day at work, walking through downtown during rush hour felt like being squeezed forward by countless identical faceless figures. I couldn’t help but think, this routine life might be for some people, but definitely not for me!

By then, I had already tried many avenues of passive income, but none of them succeeded. Nevertheless, I loved digging more. As long as I genuinely believed in something, I knew I could figure it out; it was just a matter of time. This self-confidence led me to keep an eye out for opportunities even after joining the bank.

And I stumbled upon a clue!

At that time, this quasi-bank was still applying for a banking license, and I was involved in one part of this project. As an ex-consulting finance enthusiast, my strong curiosity drove me to gather all the information I could access, especially the disclosure documents regarding regulations. I read through the source files, carefully studied the business sections and numbers, focusing on understanding how they made money!

Guess what I found? Specific details will be discussed next time!
