Founder of MsPassiveIncome.com | Passive Income Investor | Financial Educator | Due Diligence Researcher

Hi, I’m Cindy Shen. Welcome to MsPassiveIncome.com.
I created MsPassiveIncome.com with one simple mission:
To make passive income part of every portfolio on Earth so you can pursue your passions.
That mission influences everything I do, from researching investment opportunities to putting my own money into them and documenting what happens afterward.
I believe passive income can play an important role in achieving financial freedom. But earning returns starts with understanding where your money is going. That’s why I don’t just research investments from the sidelines. When appropriate, I invest my own capital, track the experience, and share both the good and the bad with my readers.
My purpose isn’t to tell you what you should invest in.
Instead, I want to show you how I evaluate investments, what my due diligence process looks like, and what I learn from real-world results so you can make more informed decisions for yourself.
My path into investing didn’t start with stocks or traditional financial markets.
It started with a car accident.
I was injured as a passenger in a serious accident. While trying to understand my legal options, I came across an investment area I had never heard much about before: litigation finance.
The more I researched the industry, the more interesting it became. Eventually, I began funding some of my lawyer’s other car accident cases when they met specific criteria.
That experience changed how I viewed investing.
I started wondering: if an entire investment category could exist outside the awareness of most everyday investors, what other opportunities might be out there?
That question sent me down a much larger research path.
I began exploring private lending, private credit, music royalties, entertainment financing, specialty finance, tax liens, patent litigation funding, pre-IPO investments, and many other niche opportunities designed to generate passive income.
Along the way, I noticed a major problem.
There was surprisingly little transparent information available about many of these investments. Much of the content I found was either promotional or focused only on explaining an investment at a very high level.
There were far fewer people willing to put their own money into these opportunities, document what happened, and continue reporting on the investment after the initial decision.
So I decided to do exactly that.
MsPassiveIncome.com became a place where I could document the entire investment journey—not just the research that happens before investing, but also the results, challenges, surprises, and lessons that emerge afterward.
I believe one of the best ways to learn about investing is through real experiences.
Marketing materials can explain why an investment should work. Research can explain the theory behind it. But neither necessarily tells you what happens after real money is committed.
That’s why, whenever appropriate, I invest my own capital before sharing my experience with the MsPassiveIncome.com community.
My readers can follow the journey through portfolio updates, understand why I made particular investment decisions, and see how those investments perform over time.
They also get to see the mistakes.
The goal isn’t to build a group of followers who simply copy my investments.
The goal is to help readers become independent investors who can evaluate opportunities for themselves using a structured decision-making process.
I use a consistent framework when evaluating potential investments.
The first step is identifying opportunities that have the potential to generate attractive passive income.
I generally look for investments that meet two important criteria:
If an opportunity doesn’t meet these basic standards, I don’t pursue it further.
Finding an attractive opportunity is only the beginning.
Before committing any money, I spend considerable time understanding how the investment works and what could go wrong.
Some of the questions I consider include:
Potential returns are only one part of the equation.
Understanding the downside is equally important.
If an opportunity passes my due diligence process and I am comfortable with the risks, I invest a small amount of my own money.
This gives me the opportunity to experience the investment as an actual investor—not simply as someone researching it from the outside.
I don’t want my conclusions to be based entirely on company presentations, sales materials, or promises.
I want firsthand experience.
Once I’ve invested, the research doesn’t stop.
I continue tracking and documenting what happens.
Depending on the investment, that may include:
This gives readers a much more complete picture than simply reading an initial investment thesis.
They can see whether an investment actually performs as expected in the real world.
Over time, this process can also reveal which investment operators consistently deliver on their promises and which ones fall short.
After approximately twelve months, I review each investment objectively.
If the investment has performed as expected and management has demonstrated that it can be trusted, I may decide to increase my allocation.
If the investment underperforms or significant concerns emerge, I may choose to exit.
When that happens, I document the experience and explain the reasons behind my decision.
I view both outcomes as valuable.
A successful investment provides useful lessons. An unsuccessful one can provide equally important insights into risk, due diligence, and decision-making.
Although many of the opportunities I research fall under the alternative investment category, the broader focus of MsPassiveIncome.com is much simpler:
Helping readers discover and evaluate potential sources of passive income.
Topics covered include:
The goal of each article is to go beyond simply describing an investment.
I want readers to understand how it works, what risks are involved, and how they can evaluate the opportunity using a similar framework before putting their own money at risk.
Trust isn’t created by making big promises.
It’s earned through transparency.
Whenever possible, I clearly separate facts, personal opinions, my own experiences, and broader industry information.
If an investment performs well, I’ll share the results.
If it underperforms, I’ll share that too.
And if I make a mistake, I’ll explain what happened and what I learned from it.
Investing isn’t about getting every decision right.
It’s about continuously improving the way you make decisions while managing risk responsibly.
MsPassiveIncome.com exists to educate readers and document my personal investment journey.
I don’t manage client funds. I don’t provide brokerage services. And I don’t offer personalized financial advice.
Instead, I share my own research, due diligence, investments, portfolio updates, experiences, and lessons learned.
My hope is that readers can take the decision-making framework behind my process and apply it to their own research.
Every investor should conduct their own independent due diligence and consult qualified legal, tax, or financial professionals before making investment decisions.
MsPassiveIncome.com primarily serves Chinese-speaking readers, while I also operate an English-language platform designed to help a broader audience explore sustainable passive income opportunities.
Both platforms are built around the same core principles:
And both are driven by the same larger mission:
To make passive income part of every portfolio on Earth so you can pursue your passions.
Thank you for visiting MsPassiveIncome.com.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore passive income or you’re an experienced investor looking beyond traditional markets, I hope my investment experiences, research process, and portfolio updates help you ask better questions and make more informed decisions.
I also hope they help you avoid expensive mistakes and become more confident in your own investment decisions.
Investing is a lifelong journey.
I’m grateful to share mine with you.
